About Me
About Sarah Jones
Hi, I’m Sarah Jones – a certified holistic health practitioner, herbalist, and natural wellness advocate based in Portland, Oregon.
My Journey to Natural Medicine
My path into natural remedies began unexpectedly during my college years at the University of Oregon, where I initially studied biochemistry. After struggling with chronic migraines and digestive issues that conventional medicine couldn’t fully resolve, I discovered the transformative power of natural remedies through my grandmother’s traditional folk medicine recipes.
That turning point led me to pursue additional certifications in herbal medicine from the American Herbalists Guild (2016) and holistic nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (2018). I’ve spent over 8 years researching, testing, and documenting natural health solutions – first on myself, then with family and friends, and eventually with hundreds of readers who’ve shared their experiences.
My Experience & Philosophy
I’ve worked as a wellness consultant at Green Valley Holistic Health Center in Portland (2017-2021), where I helped clients integrate natural remedies into their daily routines. During those years, I personally tested over 200 different home remedies, documented their effects, and learned what truly works versus what’s just internet hype.
My approach is simple: evidence-informed, experience-tested, and honestly shared. I don’t believe natural remedies replace medical care when it’s needed, but I’ve seen firsthand how they can complement conventional treatment and empower people to take charge of their everyday wellness.
What I Bring to Natural Remedies Blog
On this blog, I share remedies I’ve personally tried or extensively researched. When I write about apple cider vinegar for morning wellness, I’m drawing from the 30-day experiment I conducted on myself. When I discuss coconut oil uses, I’m sharing the 15+ applications I’ve integrated into my own routine over five years.
I’ve mixed countless batches of homemade remedies in my kitchen, dealt with my share of sore throats and skin issues, and learned through trial and error what works quickly and what requires patience. My goal is to save you time by sharing what I’ve already tested.
Beyond the Blog
When I’m not researching natural remedies or writing, you’ll find me:
- Tending my medicinal herb garden (featuring chamomile, calendula, lavender, and 20+ other healing plants)
- Volunteering at the Portland Community Wellness Initiative
- Experimenting with fermentation and traditional food preservation
- Hiking the Pacific Northwest trails with my rescue dog, Maple
My Promise to You
I’m committed to providing honest, well-researched information based on both traditional wisdom and modern understanding. Every remedy I share includes realistic expectations – I’ll tell you what worked for me, what didn’t, and what the science says when available.
Natural wellness is a journey, not a destination. I’m here to walk alongside you, sharing what I’ve learned and continuing to learn from your experiences too.
